Working at R²

We build financial infrastructure. We build teams the same way.

R² Advisors is a CPA-led advisory firm where accounting, tax, strategy, reporting, and governance operate as one system. The people who do this work well share something specific — they think structurally, hold precision and context at the same time, and understand that financial clarity is built, not reported.

What the work requires

Advisory that holds up under real complexity.

The organizations we serve operate under real complexity — multi-entity structures, institutional stakeholders, regulatory exposure, and financial decisions that carry consequences. The advisory relationships they need can't be assembled from checklists or templates. This means our team operates differently from most firms:

Integration over specialization

We don't silo tax from accounting from advisory. Every professional here understands how their work connects to the layers above and below it. A tax decision affects reporting structure. A reporting decision affects what leadership can see. The ability to think across those boundaries is not optional — it's the foundation of how we work.

Structure over volume

We don't measure value by hours billed or transactions processed. We measure it by whether the financial infrastructure we build holds up when leadership depends on it — under board scrutiny, investor questions, audit pressure, and operational change.

Precision with context

Technical accuracy is the starting point, not the differentiator. What distinguishes the work here is the ability to connect precise financial data to the operational and strategic decisions it's supposed to inform. Numbers without context are just compliance. Numbers with context are clarity.

Who does well here

The kind of professionals who do well here.

We don't hire for roles. We build around capabilities and thinking styles that compound over time.

Structural thinkers

People who see how systems connect — not just how individual components work. If you look at a chart of accounts and think about what it enables downstream, not just whether it balances, you think the way we do.

Quiet precision

Professionals who hold themselves to a standard that doesn't require supervision. The kind of person who catches the misalignment before it becomes visible to the client — because the structure matters to them, not just the output.

Intellectual range

Our work spans accounting treatment, tax strategy, financial modeling, governance architecture, and systems integration. The professionals who thrive here are genuinely curious across those domains, not narrowly specialized within one.

Client-facing maturity

We work directly with founders, CFOs, and board members. That requires the ability to communicate with clarity and confidence — translating technical work into language that supports decisions, not just demonstrates expertise.

How we operate

Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia.

Our team works in a structured, collaborative environment where autonomy and accountability coexist.

01

Integrated Thinking

Our advisory model isn't just how we serve clients. It's how we operate internally. Every engagement connects accounting, tax, reporting, and governance into one decision environment. Every team member sees the full picture, not just their piece of it.

02

The Catalyst Collective

Our internal innovation practice is where we prototype and test new systems, workflows, and frameworks before they reach client engagements. Team members contribute directly — it's not a separate R&D function. If you have an idea about how financial infrastructure should work differently, this is where it gets built.

03

Professional development that compounds

We invest in credentials, continuing education, and cross-domain exposure — not as a benefit, but as an operating requirement. The complexity of our client work demands it. CPA licensure, advanced certifications, and technology fluency are actively supported.

Recognition

Recognition

The firm and its leadership have been recognized across the profession. These recognitions reflect the environment we've built — one where the quality of the work and the thinking behind it are taken seriously.

Summer internship program

Learn how financial infrastructure actually gets built.

Most internships teach you how to process transactions. Ours teaches you how to think about the systems those transactions flow through — and why the structure behind the numbers matters more than the numbers themselves.

R² summer interns work alongside senior advisors on live client engagements. You won't shadow from a distance or run practice sets. You'll see how accounting treatment connects to tax strategy, how reporting infrastructure supports board-level decisions, and how governance architecture holds everything together under real operational complexity.

This program is designed for students who are already thinking beyond compliance — who want to understand how CPA-led advisory works as integrated financial infrastructure, not as a collection of disconnected services.

Academic partnerships

For educational institutions building the next generation of financial leaders.

R² Advisors partners with universities and professional programs that share our belief that financial advisory is a structural discipline — not just a technical one. We work with accounting departments, MAcc programs, and finance schools to give students exposure to integrated advisory practice before they enter the profession.

We're interested in partnerships that go beyond job fairs and resume drops. The institutions we work with are building curricula that reflect how modern financial advisory actually operates — where tax, accounting, reporting, governance, and technology intersect in practice, not just in theory.

Guest lectures & case studies

Senior advisors present real-world case studies on structural alignment, integrated advisory, and financial infrastructure design to graduate and upper-division classes.

Capstone & research collaboration

We sponsor capstone projects and collaborate on applied research through our Catalyst Collective — giving students access to the frameworks and methodologies we use in practice.

Internship pipeline

Partner institutions receive priority access to our summer internship program, with structured placement pathways for students who demonstrate alignment with how we think and work.

Curriculum advisory

We consult with program directors on curriculum development that reflects the realities of integrated financial advisory — bridging the gap between what's taught and what's practiced.

If this resonates.

We don't always have open positions posted. We are always interested in hearing from professionals whose thinking aligns with how we work.

If you're a CPA, financial professional, or advisory-minded technologist who thinks structurally about financial infrastructure — and you'd rather build systems that hold up than produce reports that get filed — we'd like to hear from you.

No formal application required. No cover letter template. Just tell us what you'd bring to this kind of work.
